I’m a Minnesota boy now, but I was born and raised in Texas, where Tex-Mex was served with Jalapeño’s weekly. In fact, we had chilies’ growing along side of our house.
I learned what HOT really meant when my older brother dared me to pop one in my mouth, chew it twice and swallow quick! Man was that HOT… but as I grew older I learned to love hot food and now I find my self putting a dash of hot sauce on my eggs in the morning. So that brings us to today’s featured site.
The Kalahari Pepper Company
In the late 1970’s a friend of theirs traveled to Botswana to experience Africa. Often, his professional guides would pick and eat a tiny red pepper. This flavorful and extremely hot chili pepper was the unique African Peri Peri. The 15th century Portuguese spice traders named them “Pili Pili”.
A handful of these flavorful chilies were brought back to the United States where they were carefully cultivated over the next twenty years in a small Southern California garden. What started as a hobby eventually grew into the Kalahari Pepper Company.
The Kalahari Pepper Company is currently the only commercial grower of the African Peri Peri Red Pepper in the United States, and has been awarded numerous first place awards for their African Rhino Peri Peri SauceTM.
Sponsors of Save the Rhino International
They are a dedicated supporter and sponsor of Save the Rhino International, a non profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Rhino’s worldwide. A portion of the profits from each product sold is donated directly to this worthwhile cause. You can check out their site at http://www.kalaharipepper.com/

Microsoft Vine
Microsoft Vine allows you to stay in touch with friends and family when it matters
Stay in touch with family and friends, be informed when someone you care about needs help. Get involved to create great neighborhoods, communities or causes. You select the people and places you care about most. Use alerts, reports and your personal dashboard to stay in touch, informed and involved.
Use the dashboard
Stay informed about what’s happening with the places and people you care about. Information associated with the places you have chosen will appear on your map, including articles from local and national news sources as well as public safety announcements. Information associated with the people you care about who are in your Vine network will appear on the dashboard too. You will know when they send you an alert, post a report or update their Facebook status information.
Send and receive alerts with Microsoft Vine
Organize people into groups so it’s easy to send information to them all at once — the sports team you coach, people who live nearby, family far away, special friends, and the people you might want to reach in an emergency. Each person can define how they want to receive their alerts — through e-mail, a text message or on their computer — so your message is sent to the right people in the right way, quickly.
Post reports. You decide what information is important to share and the people you want to share it with. Then the information is sent directly to their personal dashboard. You can check in to let your family know you are okay.
Microsoft Vine is appropriate for any small group of people who want to stay in touch, informed and involved — families, neighbors, sports teams, school committees, volunteer groups or faith-based groups. The Microsoft Vine beta will be available for a limited number of people to download at no cost, beginning in May 2009. If you are interested in trying the service and contributing feedback, reserve your invitation at http://www.vine.net.
